Tally Parr, a 2006 face to watch (2 January 2006 Independent), Managing
Director of Fresh Air Radio
(FAR) and Partner in
Cactus Recordings.
Also nominated as “Best Producer” by Fringe Report (30 January 2004)
This is what creative legend, Trevor Beattie, said about Tally Parr in the Independent (2006):
“She is a fix-it. She organised an amazing event in the summer for Cafédirect where they took over the London Eye and in each pod there was a different act performing. It was an amazing idea. You bought your ticket and you walked onto the pod and you might have got Blur playing in the pod live or a stand-up comedian or an artist painting you. She is just full of ideas, but she makes them happen, that's the important thing. For me it is really cutting edge stuff.”
Aged 30, Tally has a film production background and majored in editing and directing from Manchester. She was the only student to win an award in each year of her degree. Her final film 'Children of Imprisoned Fathers' resulted in two prisons running a course for imprisoned Fathers using her film as the basis.
Between 1995 and 1998 she worked for a Soho Production House shooting television commercials for Agent Provocateur, British Heart Foundation, Norwich Union, HMV, De Beers and Nissan (Middle East) and live shoots for theatre promotions mostly for Cameron Mackintosh productions.
Her first independent commissioned job was for TGI Friday's in 1994 when she produced a film for their UK Bartenders Challenge, then went on to produce the World Bartending Challenge Final.
In 2002 she set up her own events company Partium. Partium Co-produced Robbie Williams Cinecast 'Intensive Care' - Live from Berlin. For Cafédirect she produced Flight 5065 on the London Eye and 5065 Lift at the Edinburgh and Brighton Fringe Festivals working closely with writers, directors and actors as well as many top class comics and musicians to develop live content to be used in performances. Other unusual events the De La Soul Aftershow Party. Along with a number of charitable fundraising parties for a variety of charities.
In January 2004 she joined forces with Nick Harris (Ex owner of Soho Dubbing studio Natural Sound Source) to set up Cactus Recordings, which produces music for the film, TV and advertising industries. Current signings include Mercury nominated rap star Ty and Drew along with Bafta nominated Sheridan Tongue. Music and sound design have been produced for Sky Sports, Mercedes, British Gas, Ariel, and a number of record labels such as EMI, Sony BMG, Perfecto, Skint and XL Recordings.
In January of 2005 she again widened her portfolio working with Nick Harris and Dominic Corp (ex Saatchi's & WCRS) and set up Fresh Air Radio, specialists in planning, writing, directing and producing for radio. FAR works both with clients direct and as a production house of ad agencies.
